Rpc Locator error
Faulting application locator.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180,
faulting module locator.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault
address 0x00010869.

I keep getting this error everytime I power on my machine.
Everything runs fine when I come up. I have loaded XP SP2
and this error started after I loaded SP2.

It does not give me enough information to figure out what
is wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am getting this same error - it seems to only happen when I am using the computer and not connected to the domain.. IE the computer can't see the domain controller. As soon as I connect to the network where the DC resides - the error stops popping up.

Re: RE: Rpc Locator error
I am also getting the same error. It also only seems to appear when I am not connected to the production network or the domain. Also when I'm wireless. I'm going to do some tests with the firewall and wireless connection settings.

Also, if I VPN into the domain the error goes away.

Re: Re: RE: Rpc Locator error
FYI, shutting the firewall off of my wireless adaptor (while drastic) seems to have helped the problem go away. A trace may be in order to see exactly what causing it and making a specific exception rather than shutting the whole firewall down.....HTH.

FIY - Removing NAI VirusScan 8i and going back to 7.1.0 fixed this problem.
