HELP!! Maximum number of domains in a forest
Hi,

In the Active Directory 2003 deployment guide says that, form manageability reasons, it's not recommended to create more than 10 domains in a forest.

But, is there any limit? can it be a problem (other than administering issues) if I have a forest with 500 domains (only one global catalog, the root domain controller)? Wich kind of problems?

Thanks in advance.

I can't think of a good reason for having 500 Domains in a forest. Can
you? The recommendation is to have as few Domains as possible,
preferably only one, in an organisation.

If I did have more than a few Domains, I'd definitely have a number of
global catalogs, at least one per Domain.

Cheers,

Cliff

These twin-CPU hyperthreading computers are really
great! We can wait ten to a hundred times faster
these days.

The maximum number of domains is: The lowest number you need to maintain
security and political integrity in your organization. (You only add a
domain when you *have* to define a different Domain Security Policy.)

And, NO... You can't have just one GC. You need at least one per domain.
