Dropbox share not visible on own PC
I have a strange problem. Using indirect replication, my dropbox is correctly shared and it can be seen by the other computers. But when I try to configure my Replication Manager it can't find the share name for the dropbox on my PC.

Nothing has been changed and it has been working for months. What could be causing this?

BTW, There's a frequent problem where re-configuring ReplMan is necessary to clear the problem, but that's another question.

TIA
Glen

Re: Dropbox share not visible on own PC
Further info re this mystery. When I noticed this problem, I had been called to the shop because the modem wasn't receiving calls. The PC couldn't even see the modem.

On fixing the *modem* installation/setup, this problem with *ReplMan* not seeing its own dropbox mysteriously went away!

Any suggestions as to what the connection between these 2 problems might be?

Glen

Re: Re: Dropbox share not visible on own PC
I have pinned down this problem and now have a fix, but
I still don't understand it.
- The problem applies *only* to Replication Manager
- Other programs e.g. Explorer can read and write to the Dropbox folder.
- When ReplMan can't see the dropbox it can't see *any* of the shares on that PC. (i.e. the list of shares is empty)
- Re-booting doesn't clear the problem.
- Connecting to a LAN or dial-up network *DOES* clear the problem. (No other action necessary!)

I upgraded my Jet 4 and Office 2000 Replication to the latest levels in October.

Are there special conditions on ReplMan's Dropbox
requirements? (i.e. beyond sharing R/W/D)

Can anyone suggest how I can clear this problem (and re-configure ReplMan) without involving the users?

TIA,
Glen
